The use of partitioning to fight fires is a fairly recent introduction, and only recently, has been codified and standardized with the EU Directive 89/106/EEC on construction products that, with regard to the requirements in the event of fire, requires specifically an abundant use of compartments in the construction industry. As we know, a compartment has to resist for the entire fire event that is where to store: A - its mechanical stability without collapse "R" B - its bound to hot gases and flames "E" C - its insulation from the heat "I"
The combination of the three criteria mentioned includes the well-known symbol that REI, followed by a number indicating the minutes, sets the fire resistance of a compartment or a closing of doors or other closing elements.
